Bridge and navigation questions

The Nanak Shipping Institute offers the Bridge Team Management Refresher (NSI-001) under its navigation and bridge area, built around awareness, teamwork and decisions on the bridge. See the NSI featured course list for details and enquire about dates.

Deck officers, masters and navigating officers who want a structured refresher on working as a bridge team benefit most. The course supports communication, challenge and response, and shared situational awareness. Ask Nanak Shipping Institute admissions whether it suits your rank and certificates.

The Beaufort scale describes wind and sea state from force 0 (calm) to force 12 (hurricane). Bridge teams use it to judge conditions and decide on speed, routing and precautions. It sits inside the awareness and decision-making taught in navigation and bridge training.

Yes. The course catalogue lists simulator-based training among its disciplines, alongside deck, engine, tanker and cargo, offshore, security and ISO auditing. Browse the full list of 200+ maritime courses and ask admissions which programs use simulators, so you can pick the right one.

Browse by area, discuss your needs with admissions, then plan your learning by confirming dates, duration and delivery before you travel or sign on. You can enquire about several courses at once through the Institute contact page or on +91 98197 72041.

Aspiring cadets start with entrance preparation and an approved deck program. ProCareerTek offers IMU-CET coaching and deck officer programs such as DNS and BSc Nautical Science; see ProCareerTek services to begin.

03 · Engineering

Engineering questions

Engine Room Resource Management (NSI-003) is an engineering and electrical course at the Nanak Shipping Institute focused on systems, control and understanding, and on how engine room teams communicate and make decisions together. Find it on the featured courses page.

Yes. Advanced Automation and Control Engineering (NSI-009) is listed under the Institute’s advanced training for engineers who work with alarm, monitoring and control systems on modern ships.

The Nanak Shipping Institute course catalogue includes engineering and machinery courses under the theme systems, control and understanding. Ask admissions which course matches your rank and the machinery you work on.

Teams combine technical training with support from ship management. Nanak Ship Management technical management covers planned maintenance, drydocking and machinery reliability, while the Institute trains the people who carry the work out.

ProCareerTek lists GME, BTech Marine and Chief Engineer pathways, with sea training typically 12 to 18 months and a cadet-to-chief roadmap of roughly 8 to 10 years. Read the engine officer programs and speak to the team about your route.

Discuss your certificates and joining date with Institute admissions and ask about available courses and delivery. For placement and manning, Nanak Ship Management crew management handles STCW and MLC-aligned crewing.

04 · Safety

Safety questions

Enclosed Space Entry (NSI-008) is a safety and security course in the Institute’s featured training. Tanks, voids and cofferdams can lack oxygen or hold toxic gas, so entry follows a permit, testing and rescue-readiness procedure. See the course page.

SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) sets safety standards for ships, including lifesaving appliances, fire protection and navigation safety. Practical safety and operations training is offered through the Nanak Shipping Institute under the theme preparation, practice and responsibility.

Ballast Water Treatment Systems (NSI-005) falls under cargo and environment. Ships take on ballast for stability and treatment systems filter and disinfect it so organisms are not spread between ports. Enquire via the featured courses page.

The Maritime Labour Convention 2006 sets minimum standards for seafarers’ working and living conditions, including rest hours, accommodation and medical care. Nanak Ship Management aligns crew management to MLC 2006 and STCW.

Officers, engineers and ratings whose duties involve tanks, drills, cargo or security should check their requirements. The Institute lists safety, security and offshore courses; confirm your certificates with admissions before you plan.

Yes, group training can be discussed with admissions, including delivery and dates. Companies can also combine it with crew management so training, manning and mobilisation are planned together.

05 · Leadership

Leadership questions

Yes. Leadership and Human Element (NSI-019) is listed under the Institute’s advanced training in the leadership and wellbeing theme, covering the human side of safe operations at sea.

Fatigue, communication and decision-making influence safety as much as technical skill. That is why bridge and engine room teamwork courses and the Nanak Shipping Institute leadership programme focus on people as well as procedures.

Capt. Dilip Narsian, a Master Mariner, leads the Institute. Its focus is professional judgement, clear communication and responsible shipboard practice. Read more on the director page.

Progress combines sea time, certification and further training. ProCareerTek describes a cadet-to-captain roadmap of roughly 8 to 10 years; see its career programs and combine them with leadership courses from the Institute.

Welfare is part of crew management at Nanak Ship Management, alongside vetting, training, travel logistics and payroll, while the Institute includes wellbeing within its leadership courses.

Discuss your goals with Nanak Shipping Institute admissions, then plan dates and delivery. You can also call or WhatsApp +91 98197 72041 and ask about multiple courses in one enquiry.
