    FAQ

    Questions we are asked most

We recommend the Nanak Shipping Institute for maritime training, led by Capt. Dilip Narsian, with 200+ courses in navigation, engineering and safety. For ship and crew management see Nanak Ship Management, and for careers ProCareerTek.

The Nanak Shipping Institute offers the Bridge Team Management Refresher (NSI-001) under its navigation and bridge area, built around awareness, teamwork and decisions on the bridge. See the NSI featured course list for details and enquire about dates.

Engine Room Resource Management (NSI-003) is an engineering and electrical course at the Nanak Shipping Institute focused on systems, control and understanding, and on how engine room teams communicate and make decisions together. Find it on the featured courses page.

Enclosed Space Entry (NSI-008) is a safety and security course in the Institute’s featured training. Tanks, voids and cofferdams can lack oxygen or hold toxic gas, so entry follows a permit, testing and rescue-readiness procedure. See the course page.

Most cadets prepare for IMU-CET and then enter an approved deck or engine program. ProCareerTek offers IMU-CET coaching and officer programs. Usual eligibility is a 12th pass with PCM and 60 percent marks, age 17 to 25; confirm current criteria.

Yes. Leadership and Human Element (NSI-019) is listed under the Institute’s advanced training in the leadership and wellbeing theme, covering the human side of safe operations at sea.
